Marilynn LaVonne Seelbach, 100, of rural Waggoner, IL passed away at Lewis Memorial Christian Village in Springfield on February 18, 2023.
Marilynn was born in rural Raymond on August 15, 1922, the daughter of Frank and Mary(Brown) Welge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fabian(Tater) Seelbach, her parents, two sisters,
Helen Welge and Dolores Parr; and two brothers, Kenneth and Harlan Welge as well as granddaughter, Jenna Seelbach Darr and great grandchildren Emma and Warren Samson.
Marilynn graduated from Waggoner High School and Illinois Business College in Springfield. She married Fabian J Seelbach of Farmersville on July 13,1943. They celebrated 65 years together before he passed in 2008.
Marilynn and Tater shared life and work on the farm near Waggoner for 40 years prior to retirement. She also worked for the State of Illinois Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and for Old Republic Insurance Company in Girard. Marilynn was known throughout the community as generous, hard working, and devoted to her family. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, reading and playing cards. Marilynn and Tater were longstanding members of St Mary’s and St Patricks Catholic Churches where she was also a member of the Altar Society.
Marilynn is survived by three sons, Gene(Bonnie) of Springfield, Gary(Michele) of Springfield and Geoff(Sa) of Santa Clara, CA and Springfield; five daughters, Ginger Bensch of Houston, TX, Gale(Keith) Harms of Waggoner, Gwen Jennings of Springfield, Gloria Gietl of Bellingham, WA and Geri(Roger) Adams of Anacortes, WA. She was the proud grandma of 23 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Open House is being held at The Rustic Venue's, 24720 N Standard City Road, Girard, IL on Sunday, October 15 from 2-4pm.
Memorials may be made to Jenna Martin Seelbach Scholarship Fund at HSHS School of Nursing.
