Obituary of Jeanette Shackleford

Jeanette R. Shackleford, 80, of Girard, passed away Tuesday morning, January 19, 2021 at her residence in Girard, with her daughter by her side. Jeanette was born on August 29, 1940 to Ernest and Bertie (Brown) Parson in Cumberland, Kentucky. On June 16, 1965 she married Henry Shackleford in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on August 23, 2003. Jeanette graduated from Lynch High School in Lynch, Kentucky with the class of 1957. She was a stay at home mom, taking care of the homestead and raising her family. She loved cooking, reading, and shopping. She was well known for her socializing. Jeanette is survived by her daughter, Christie Michelle Shackleford of Raleigh, NC; Two granddaughters, Madison Alexis and Olivia Nichole Plesche; two grandsons, Brent and Mark Miles; great- granddaughter, Ashley Marie Miles; great-grandson, Nathan Miles; several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Bertie, husband, Henry, daughter, Katherine Ann Miles, brother, Dorman Parson, and sister, Ernestine Augusta. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 21, 2021, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. A graveside funeral service will follow on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL, with , Rev. Shawn Burgess officiating. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
