Obituary of Ruby Irene (Cope) Walker

Ruby Irene (Cope) Walker, 70, of Carlinville, formerly of Pittston, PA, passed away Monday morning, June 13, 2016 at her sisters residence in Carlinville, IL. Ruby was born on July 16, 1945, to Fredrick and Marion (Ruby) Cope in Alton, IL. She graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1963. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked as a secretary for the FBI in Washington D.C. She later moved to Pennsylvania to raise her family. After holding several different secretarial positions, Ruby began her career with Blue Cross Blue Shield until her retirement in 2011. She attended Cross Church in Carlinville, Il, and enjoyed reading, crocheting, watching movies, playing card games and was a great cook. Ruby loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruby is survived by her son, Patrick Walker of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Crystal (William) Hurst of Bath, PA and Jennifer Walker of Pittston, PA; 2 grandchildren, Brayden and Madelyn Hurst; sister, Phyllis Wiser of Carlinville; two brothers, Fred (Sharon) Cope of Carrollton, IL and Randy (Mary) Cope of Roxana, IL, step-sisters, Brenda (Denny) Wagenblast of Brighton, IL, Pam (Greg) Kinnipping of Godfrey, IL as well as several aunts, nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Juanita Cope in 2001. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Rhodus officiating. Burial will be held in the Carrollton City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association. Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville is in charge of arrangements.
