Condolences
Art was one of my favorite uncles. He was always upbeat, energetic and had a definite twinkle in his eyes, even up to the very last time I saw him. As a young boy he impressed me with his unrestrained laughter, his wit, his work ethic and his devotion to his family. He continued to impress me with all those same things as he and I aged, some 30 years apart. One of my early memories of Art was spending the night at "Marty's house" in Girard and seeing what he would bring home from Kroger's for dinner that night. Kathy would get so excited if it included a can of nice black olives....seemed like gourmet back then. And he always had some of the most impressive gardens (along with my dad's) I ever saw.....they would literally take up most of a square block in the house near the old "West Grade School". I can still see him working out there in his muscle tee shirts and trousers, looking quite machismo. And he loved reminding us when there was anything close to a segue, of some biblical quote that might fit the occasion. We'll miss you, Art, and I'm happy to have some of your original artwork in my home to remind me from time to time of your great smile and big heart.
