Condolences
I still remember Jim coming to the band room one day after I took over the bands in 1985. "How old do you think a child should be before they start piano lessons? " Thus began Sarah's love and career in music! He spoke with pride over her accomplishments and Sue's "Teddy Bear" shows. I'll remember his smile and his wearing of tennis shoes to teach in at school.
With Sympathy...Gary Gardner
Condolences to his family and friends.
He was my Bookkeeping/Accounting teacher his first year at CHS (1968). Sort of cool to have a teacher only 6 years older than me. He was a great teacher and an all-around nice guy to know.
Jim was a one-of-a-kind teacher, and I was fortunate enough to have taken two years of his accounting classes. Because of him, I learned to love business and accounting. Not only did he make learning fun, but I actually looked forward to going to his class. He was truly a special person, and I will always remember him fondly. I am so sorry for your loss, Sue and Sarah.
I had Jim as a teacher his first year at CHS. He was a great teacher and one of my favorites. I am so very sorry for your loss.
I had "Mr VanNattan" the first year he taught here and my daughter had him the last year. What a great sense of humor and a great teacher! My deepest condolences to his family.
Jim was so young when he started teaching, but he did an amazing job with the class of 70. He seemed to be a math wizard and had an amazing talent of remembering birthdays. I could never figure out how he did that.
Our thought are with you Sue and Sarah. Jim’s passing will leave a big void in your family.
Sue, sorry for your loss. I thought often of Jim-as a favorite teacher, reading buddy, and his memory for birthdays. So many good memories. Thinking of you.
