Mary Elizabeth Strode, 89, of Springfield, IL formerly of Carlinville, IL passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Villas West in Sherman, IL.

Mary was born June 9, 1935, in Blyton, IL, a son of Isaiah Luther and Verlie Margaret Emma Freitag Williamson.

Mary graduated from Cuba High School with the class of 1953.

She married Ben R. "Doc" Strode, April 11, 1954.

Mary enjoyed her life raising her three children and watching the children of other teachers. She was very involved in the Carlinville Nazarene Church and assisting Doc with his busy life.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2020 and sister, Dorothy Riegle.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, 11:00AM to Noon at Cross Church in Carlinville, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Noon at the church.

Burial will follow in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.

Mary is survived by her son, Gerald R. "Jerry" (Lorraine) Strode of Springfield, IL, son, Lyndell D. (Lynette) Strode of Springfield, IL, daughter, Dorothy "Dotti" (Edward) Robinson of Springfield, IL, 9 grandchildren & 10 great grandchildren, brothers; James Williamson of OK, Harold Williamson of Aurora, IL, and Ken Williamson of Henry, IL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Virden Nazarene Church.
