Fay Ellen Bodtke, 74, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on Monday, June 17,2024 at Copper Creek Cottages in Litchfield, IL.

Fay was born on June 18, 1949, to John and Mildred (Roberts) Bader at Chicago, IL.

Fay married Robert Smith, then later married Ronald Bodtke on March 4, 1988, in Las Vegas, NV. She started her postal career in 1976 as a rural mail carrier. She then became Postmaster of the Chesterfield Post Office where she worked until retirement. After retirement in 2001, Fay kept busy with her friends, husband, kids and grandkids. Fay was an active member of the Carlinville Elks and enjoyed socializing and volunteering at the Lodge.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: John, Mark, and Norman Bader, infant sister, Mary Bader, and sons, Donny and Jimmy Bodtke.

Fay is survived by her husband Ronald, three daughters, Becky (Dan) Sanson of Carlinville, IL, Abby (Chuck) Kunz of Carlinville, IL, Debbie (Mike) Buenker of Effingham, IL; two sons, Ronnie (Melissa) Bodtke of San Diego, CA, Danny Bodtke of Collinsville, IL; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Margo DeMaeyer of Carlinville, IL, Susan Ludvigson of Maple Valley, WA, Kathy Rupert of Bethalto, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 4-7 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, 2010 East 1st South St., Carlinville, IL. Reverend Joe Koyickal, SAC, will lead a prayer service at 3:30 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 21, 10:00 am, at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church with the Reverend Joe Koyickal, SAC, officiating.

Burial will take place in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville, IL.

Memorials are suggested to the Carlinville Elks Lodge or Alzheimer's Foundation.
