Kenneth R. Schwab, 70 of Girard, IL, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at his residence in Girard, IL. Kenneth was born June 6, 1953, in Carlinville, IL, a son of Raymond and Pauline Kessinger Schwab. Kenneth graduated from Girard High School with the class of 1972. He married Sherri Pence in 1992 and they were later divorced. Kenneth was an avid Cardinal baseball, Illini football and basketball fan, enjoyed spending time with his former classmates. He was a passionate animal lover, especially all things dachshunds. Ken worked for the State of Illinois in personnel services for 12 years, ran the local restaurant South Street Grill in Girard and worked with troubled youth while living in Decatur. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Bill Schwab. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Girard, IL. Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 25, 2024 at New Calvary Cemetery in Carlinville, IL. He will be laid to rest next to his brother Bill. Kenneth is survived by his ex wife, Sherri Schwab, son, Chris Lee (Joni) Schwab of Springfield, IL, granddaughter, Jenna (Matthew) Owings, grandson, Jace Schwab, and other extended family.
