Gary Allen, age 72, died on Friday, May, 10, 2024. He was born on January 14, 1952, the son of Hershel G. and Dorothy May (Jones) Allen.
Gary attended Carlinville High School, graduating with the class of 1970. He married Earlene Freytag on January 16, 1973 in Carlinville, IL.
Gary is survived by his wife, Earlene Allen; daughter, Tammy Allen (companion David)of Stratford, NY; his son, Anthony Allen (wife Suzy) of Wood River, IL; his sister, Starr Allen; his brother Bruce Allen (wife Teri); as well as nieces and nephews who were considered sons and daughters: Jason and Meghan Allen, Mathew and Kim Allen, Seth and Keira Allen, and Zachary and Devin Allen. He also leaves behind his special grandchildren: Brandon Mealy, Rori Allen, Pierce Allen, Sylvia Allen, and Darby Allen.
For most of his life (approximately 50 years), Gary worked in the banking industry.
Gary Allen was involved at one time or another in the following Carlinville organizations and charities; Salvation Army, Jaycees, Congregate Housing, Rotary, and Catholic Charities.
His hobbies included golfing and fishing when younger. His later hobbies were reading, studying military history, and most importantly, spoiling his grandkids.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. Gary will be cremated, and his ashes scattered in his backyard among the flowers and plants.
