Nancy Kay Sanson, 76, of Girard, IL, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at

Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL with her family surrounding her with their

love.

Nancy was born October 15, 1947, in Springfield, IL, a daughter of Philip Church Cherry

and Helen Louise Allen Cherry. Nancy graduated from Girard High School with the class

of 1965. She married Gregory Lynn Sanson, on April 9, 1966, at First Christian Church,

in Girard, IL. They later divorced.

After 25+ years working as an Administrative Assistant III, Nancy retired from the Illinois Department on Aging in 2012. She also served as an Illinois’ Election Judge and was active in the Macoupin County Republican Womens’ Club. In her earlier days, she

worked for her father at the family business, Cherry's Country Store and in the finance

department at Wal-Mart in Springfield, IL.

Nancy was a member of First Christian Church in Girard, devoting her life to her Lord

and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In her free time, Nancy loved life's simple pleasures. You could find her spending time

with her beautiful family, attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events,

cooking elaborate dishes, baking sweets and treats, and planting flowers and

vegetables. Nancy’s famous recipes can be found in the Cherry’s Centennial Cookbook.

Some of her family’s favorite holiday dishes include her Memorial Grape Salad,

Caramelized Sweet Potatoes, and Green (or red) Velvet Cake.

Nancy is survived by her son, Philip Shannon (Dawn) Sanson of Auburn, IL, son, Allen

"Brandon" (Lori) Sanson of Girard, IL, and daughter, Keely Lynn (Paul) Perrine of

Carlinville, IL. Her grandchildren; Clark Philip Sanson, Morgan Hannah Sanson,

Tanner Eugene Page, Tucker Cain Sanson, Brenna Lynn Sanson, Jacob Lance Clark,

Paul Alexander (Olivia) Perrine, Kaylee Nicole Perrine, and Kelsey Lynn Perrine. Five

great-grandchildren and two on the way. Siblings, sisters, Betsy Bilbruck now of Girard,

IL, Julie Cherry Boente of Carlinville, IL, and Kathy (Terry) Hopkins of Girard, IL.

Sister-in-law, Dawn Cherry of Girard, IL, and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Cindy Sidwell, brother-in-law, Paul

Joseph Sidwell, brother, James Philip Cherry, brother-in-law, Robert Bilbruck, nephew,

Scott David "Howie" Long, grandson, Gregory Darrell Sanson, and granddaughter,

Hannah Lynn Sanson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, 4-7 pm at First Christian Church,

Girard, IL.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at First

Christian Church, Girard, IL, conducted by Kathy Hopkins and Kyle Hawkins.

Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery, Girard, IL.

Memorials may be made to Girard Fire and Rescue.
