Condolences
I know I'm late to everything but it's been so hard to put into words how much Susy means to me and my family. She pushed for my oldest daughter to get a 504 when she was denied for wrong reasons. She helped me start my youngest IEP before she started school. All of this with her own time, never would accept a penny from me. If anyone deserves to be honored and sainthood, it's this woman here.
Susy will always be remembered for her fierce advocacy for children with disabilities. She had the ability to work with school districts and help them understand the rights of children. Susy always had a smile on her face and an infectious laugh. She made a difference & left the world a better place.

Love and hugs to the Woods family. Susy was a wonderful aunt and advocate for children. Wishing you all peace. Rest in peace Susy.
Was a strong act good for educational rights for children with disabilities. It was my pleasure and honor to work alongside her on several cases and which we shared common goals. Illinois has lost a true treasure.
Susy was a wonderful person I was her daughter in law for 7years. She always had a smile on her face. I am so sorry for your loss. I am sending my love and prayers to all
I worked with Susy here at UIS. She was the sweetest person that I had ever met and we had just spoken in the fall and was going to get together for lunch over break. Susy would give the shirt off her back to help others. I am going to miss this sweet, sweet lady.
I met Suzy and her son, Adam, around 2004 or 05. I was instantly amazed by her advocacy, She was fearless when is came to advocating for people with disabilities. She worked tirelessly to be sure people got what they needed. Bless you Suzy Woods - you were one of the most loving and fearless people I know. Rest easy, Suzy.
Susy was not just my son's advocate. She was family, a friend, a fighter, a hero who never wanted praise. When my son passed, she and I remained friends. She was a blessing. A champion for change. Her heart was in all she did. I will miss her smile. The love she gave so freely.
To her family she loved so dearly, my heart and prayers are with you.
My deepest sympathies to Susy’s family and all who loved her. I met Susy through the Partners in Policymaking program and we became good friends. I was honored to serve on her advising committee when she was working on her master’s degree. I cherish my memories of her warm and friendly personality and sense of humor, her passion for justice and inclusion, her tireless advocacy for individuals with disabilities and their families, and her love and devotion for her family. Spending time with Susy was always a gift.
I returned to Carlinville in Summer 1995 after an absence of 31 years. My 6-year old son was in Susy's Bible School class. Susy told me the most amazing story about my son that I hold dear to me to this day. Just for that story, I could never forget her. But I knew her in other capacities, too. I will always love her.
