Obituary of Fran Kay
Please share a memory of Fran to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Fran Kay passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, now in our Lord’s care. Her loving and devoted husband, Wally, and her daughter, Becky preceded her in death.
Fran grew up in Chicago, IL and graduated from St. Mary of Perpetual Help with High Honors. She worked at her sister Eleanor’s flower shop for many years and then moved on to the banking industry.
Wally was transferred for his employment with F. W. Woolworth to Ephrata, PA., in the 1970s where they spent over twenty bucolic years living near many lovely Amish and Mennonite people and eventually moved to Carlinville in 1989. She was an avid reader, shopper, and crossword puzzle enthusiast before her vison started to fail. She resided at the Village at Morse Farm for 4 wonderful years.
Survivors include daughter, Bobbie Mignin, son-in-law, MacGregor, grandchildren, Cody, Casey (Carrington), Zach (Brianna), Rachael (Mat) Brett (Haley) and great-grandchild, Maisie Lou Mignin among many, nephews and nieces and one surviving sister, Dolly.
Countless, sincere thanks go to the supportive and loving staff at the Farm; (previously Shannon), Kelsey, Bessie, Ann, Danielle, Debbie, Randy and Lisa. Thanks to Rich and others who would read the menus and television listings for mom. She appreciated it very much due to her limited vision. If not listed here, thank you to all who helped her and were her friends.
An extra thank you to her companion and friend, Andy Schroeder, (rest in peace), who was a shining light in her life there.
Morse Farm was the best place for mom and we will always be grateful for their extra care at that wonderful home for seniors.
Local services to be determined. Burial will be at The Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL, in summer, 2024.
Donations can be made in her memory to:
American Macular Degeneration Foundation. PO Box 515. Northhampton, MA. 01061
or any U.S. Veteran charity.
