You know how there are people in your life that are family even though you share no DNA....well, that was Sandy for us. Sandy came into my life through a very special friendship with my mom. My mom was 10 years older than Sandy and Sandy was 10 years older than me. I was in college when Paula was born and I gained the little sister I never had...even though I was old enough to be her mother. The Bomkamp and Austwick families went on vacations together for years and year, even after my mom passed. To Marcella, Sandy was the type of friend we all hope we have in our lifetime. As mom battled and lost her fight with cancer, Sandy was a constant source of comfort, care and love. As a teenager, Paula continued the family dynamic by helping care for my two boys. I fear I am rambling, only because there are so many "feels" in the 55+ years of of my family's love for the Bomkamp family, and I cannot begin to share all of them or what they meant to us. Sandy, you will be missed by all your family, and I will do my best to help keep loving shelter over them just as you did for me.
