Joseph T. "Joe" Pocklington, 64, of Standard City, passed away Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
Joe was born on August 16, 1955 to Charles and Anna (Pennel) Pocklington in Carlinville, IL. He married Sharon K. Copple on February 14, 1976 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville.
Joe was a Steel worker for Triple L Steel until he was involved in a motorcycle accident in 1989 that through time rendered him unable to work. Prior to his employment with Triple L Steel he was the owner/operator of Pocklington Sanitation. Joe loved spending time with his grandchildren, camping, and listening to classic rock.
Joe is survived by his wife, Sharon Pocklington of Standard City, IL; mother, Anna Pocklington; son, Joseph "Joey" (companion, Amy Kline) Pocklington of Carlinville, IL; two granddaughters, Justine (Brandon) Arroyo of Farmersville, IL, and Mercedes Pocklington of Farmersville, IL; great grandson, Zaydein Pocklington; two brothers, Ed Pocklington of Carlinville, IL, and Jimmy (Vickie) Pocklington of Carlinville, IL; two sisters, Mary Pocklington of Gillespie, IL, and Anna (Jerry) Wheaton of Virden, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Charles Pocklington, Sr., and two brothers, Charles Pocklington, Jr., and Simmy Pocklington.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2020, at 10:00 am in Rural Cemetery, with Rev. Cliff Woodman officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the Celtic Visiting Nurses or American Spinal Injury Association.
