Sandra "Jean" Martin, 81 of Carlinville, passed away Saturday evening, May 16, 2020, at Sunrise Skilled Nursing Home in Virden, IL. Jean was born September 4, 1938, in Pocahontas, IL, a daughter of John Russell and Hazel Irene Haley. Jean graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1956. She married John Martin November of 1961 in Atlanta, Georgia and he passed away April 10, 1994. Jean later married Jerry Reid March 31, 2001 at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Martin, sister, Janet Huyear, and brothers; Jim, John and Jerry Haley. Jean started her career as a Medical Secretary for Springfield Clinic and later became the Office Manager for Huffman Finance in Carlinville. Jean retired as an Administrative Secretary for Kasten-Goodman Agency until she retired in 2014. She was a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and was avid reader and loved crossword puzzles, Most of all she loved being Me'Me'. Private graveside services were held 10:30 am, Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at New Calvary Cemetery. Burial followed in New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville. Jean is survived by her husband, Jerry Reid of Carlinville, IL, daughters, Johnnette (Aaron) Shipley of Carlinville, IL and Alicia (John Hall) Martin of Springfield, IL, step-children, Greg, Jeff, Dan Reid and Debbie Loges, grandchildren; Haley (John) Gill, Austin (Fiance'e Claire Lutz) Shipley, Mitchell ( Fiance'e Katarina Witt) Leefers, Sandra (Shawne) Copeland, and Will Shipley, 6 step-grandchildren, 6 great grand-children, sisters, Joyce Campbell of Springfield, IL and Brenda Jo Haley of Carlinville, IL, several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Ss Mary and Joseph Building Fund or Calvary Cemetery Fund. Please visit www.davisandersonfuneralhome.com to leave condolences or light a candle in her memory.
