Obituary of Barbara L. Toepfer

Barbara L. Toepfer, 84 of Carlinville, passed away Friday morning, February 15, 2019, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. Barbara was born December 27, 1934, in Macomb, IL, a daughter of Henry C. and Katie Benita (Wilcox) Lawrence. Barbara loved to read, work on puzzles and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Her passion was singing with the Sweet Adeline's. She was a member for over 35 years, belonging to Carlinville, Springfield and Peoria Chapters. Barbara was married on September 27, 2000 to George William John Toepfer, who passed away January 26, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, five sisters an infant son and her first husband, Lyle Griffeth. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL. where funeral services will be conducted at 3:00pm. Burial will follow in Luken Cemetery, New Berlin, Il. at a later date. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Julie Miller of Auburn, IL, Susan (Ken) Bennett of Carlinville, IL, Marla VanDeventer of Auburn, IL, Luan (Al) Vallejos of Chandler, AZ, Diana (Thomas) Crouch of Springfield, IL, sons, Jim (Claire) Tapscott of Springfield, IL and Jeff (Sheila) Tapscott of Springfield, IL, thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, sisters, Joyce Derry of Macomb, IL, Sharon (Richard) Gamage of Pekin, IL, and several nieces and nephews.
