Obituary of Thomas E. Hatalla

Thomas E. Hatalla, 79 of Carlinville, Illinois passed away Tuesday evening, October 30, 2018, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL.

Thomas was born July 7, 1939, in Springfield, IL, a son of Thomas and Anna Mae Foster Hatalla.

Tom graduated from Virden High School with the class of 1957.

He married Inge Schroter on June 10, 1974, in Jacksonville, IL.

Tom started his career, while in high school in the newspaper business with the Virden Recorder and the Gold Nuggett Publication in Virden, IL. From there, he was hired to set type for the Carlinville Democrat. Tom and his partner soon purchased the Carlinville Democrat paper from Mr. Harvey Phelps and Tom became the Editor of the paper. Tom retired in 2002 after the paper was sold to the Macoupin County Enquirer. Tom was a member of the Carlinville Elk's Lodge #1412 of which he published the “Elk's Horn” for over 20 years

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald.

Visitation will be held on Friday afternoon, November 2, 2018, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL.

Elk's Ritual will be exemplified at 7:00pm.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Inge M. Hatalla of Carlinville, IL, son, Thomas Hatalla of Virden, IL, step-son, William "Bill" ((Jackie Miller)) Hauschildt of Pittsfield, IL, 2 step grandchildren, brother, Gary (Cathy) Hatalla of MI, brother, David (Debra) Hatalla of Virden, IL, sister, Judy (Bob) Bartolozzi of Auburn, IL, sister, Barbara Wonaroski of Girard, IL, sister, Jackie Hartsook of Nilwood, IL, sister, Pam Reef of Murraryville, IL, sister, Rhonda (Lowell) Wills of Virden, IL.
