Condolences
Our prayers and sympathy for you loss. While this is a sad time, I hope that the many years of great memories, stories and close family help ease the sorrow. For me, I know one of the memories I have of Aunt Tad is the time she showed me this "new" computer program called word processing. I didn't appreciate at the time how important it would become and how much I would appreciate it. Hopefully knowing that your mom touched many lives in addition to all that she brought to your family will only strengthen her legacy. Again, we are so sorry for your loss.
I just heard about the loss of your mom. I send you all my deepest condolences! You're in my prayers for strength & healing! Loved your mom, she was always so sweet to me.
Dear Family,
My sympathy on your loss. I remember Mrs. Wilhite when she was director of the Red Cross Learn to Swim lessons at Lake Carlinville in the 1960s. She was a fair and caring leader. I think of her often as she reminded us to cover up and wear hats especially in the afternoon sun. I always wear my hat and my skin is healthier for it
A great family your Dad was our Principal at the South School. Other family members worked on the swimming program as well. A special word to my favorite life guard Ed, with whom I spent my hours as a life guard as well.
Thank you for sharing your thought and ideas with me .Thank you for sharing this great lady with us. May her soul Rest In Peace for a life well lived.
Sincerely, Kevinetta OBrien CCHS Class of 1965
She was a very smart and nice lady. She taught both me and my husband. We will remember her fondly. Sorry for your loss
To the Wilhite family -
From the days when I served as a Wilhite family babysitter, through the time I became a "Cherry Street neighbor", I've been fortunate enough to enjoy Lora's friendship - and when my own mother died (nearly 20 years ago), she sent a card to us with this quote (which I loved enough to have inscribed on Mom's marker -): "A life well-lived is never lost". She said it best - and her lasting legacy will be our memory of her kindness! With deepest sympathy -
Mary Ann Maltby
(Hope you'll all forgive me for introducing Ed to Mad magazine, back in the day -)
She was a very sweet lady I took care of her at copper creek my thoughts n prayers to the family she will be very missed
My goodness I stumbled upon this notice on Facebook. Tad and Ann were visiting at my mother's just last week and we had a good visit. My parents Lindell and Jean (Leach) Loveless also met at Blackburn and I believe that Tad was an assistant instructor in a class of my dad's. Tad and Louie were long time friends of my parents who also are members of the Federated Church. Just a few years ago Tad joined my folks to travel the Gillespie-Benld bike path. Lora was a real fine person that my parents and I have always had the highest regard for. We will all miss her.
Please know Lorraine and I are truly saddened by your loss. She touched a lot of lives. Prayers for peace. Hugs to all.
Mrs. Wilhite have it was a great teacher in sixth grade and I also I had her as a science teacher in 7th grade she will be in my thoughts and prayers
She was a special woman and will be missed by many. Hugs to the family.
A wonderful teacher and friend! She made a difference and I never plant a tree without thinking of her passion. Praying for you all
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of my favorite teacher in High School. Mrs. Wilhite always pushed me to learn which I am forever grateful for. God Bless her and Godspeed on her travels thru time and space to heaven which she patiently taught me about so many years ago.

To all of Mrs. Wilhite's family:
You have my deepest sympathies. Mrs. Wilhite was a presence throughout my life. She was my Kindergarten teacher, 7th grade science teacher, Senior year Chemistry teacher, Sunday school teacher at The Federated Church, and later a mentor for me in BPW. She was a smart, kind and down-to-earth person, and I'm better for having had her teachings and influence in my life. I never "got" chemistry, but she didn't hold that against me, and helped me through it! I have a lot of fond memories of her. My heart goes out to you all in your time of sorrow.
God bless you all,
Janet Dobbs
She was such a wonderful woman. My grandparents and I used to mow her yard. And I helped her around the house when she needed it and use to feed the dog when she went away. Such a beautiful lady inside and out. Rest in peace. Prayers to the family
Pretty sure my mom knew Lora. I went to school with Ann. Condolences to the family. Bill Gaston
Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of Mrs. Wilhite. She was one of my teachers. She was always a very happy, optimistic teacher.
I remember Mrs Wilhite throughout my life. She was a wonderful woman. My mom work with Lora's mom and always saw her every Sunday at church. A special place in my heart.
Both of my sisters worked for Mr Wilhite at the insurance agency. So when I had Mrs Wilhite as a science teacher in Junior High we formed a special friendship. I later had her for Chemistry in high school. We stayed friends and every time she traveled I got a postcard. Sometimes she brought me back a small gift. She was a great teacher and a friend I will never forget. My sympathy to her family. I know she will be missed.
