Condolences
I am very sorry for your loss I am praying for families peace and strength during this difficult time. I just wanted to share Psalm 34:18- he is near to those brokenhearted.- Again my condolences
My sympathy to all of you. Your family is in my prayers.
I can see Johns smile and hear his laugh and will not forget him. He was the kind of man who got your respect almost immediately. He was always kind, funny, and generous (he bought rain ponchos, calendars and many things I’m sure he didn’t need that I sold for CHS Cheerleading). He always had a story to tell when we talked at farm auctions, sporting events or the elevator and was a fun person to be around. To Marilyn, Dave, Gregg and family I wish you comfort and peace in knowing John is with the Lord, left a lasting footprint on earth and will be in the hearts of many for years to come.
Our heartfelt sympathy to the Kirkland Family. John was such a kind man who was so generous with his time and talents. He always greeted you with a big smile and a friendly hello. His death will be a great loss to the Carlinville United Methodist Church and his church family. A life so well-lived!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.
Marilyn, David, Deb and family, My deepest sympathy to all of you. I always enjoyed talking to John about the farm, family, and getting in on the corn he would bring to the dealership. I will miss talking with him, he was such an easy going person and very kind. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this very trying time.
John was a great guy and will be missed by so many. Our condolences to all of you.
Sorry for the lost of your love one. Praying for you Marilyn and your children.
John Kirkland was a great friend and neighbor to the Slightom family and especially my Mother, Virginia (Emery) Slightom who was born just 1/2 mile to the east of the Kirkland farm, and who knew John when he was a baby. The Slightom family all admired John for he straight-forward approach to life, his can-do attitude, his friendship, and his great smile. I last saw John at the 2017 Atwater reunion and had a great time talking with him about the area and farming. It is hard to think about a farming season without seeing John out in the fields doing what he loved, being a farmer. So long John, you will be sorrowfully missed by your family and neighbors.
We are so sorry to hear of Uncle John's passing. He was a good man, husband, and very proud father and grandfather. I always enjoyed our conversations, his knowledge about the Cardinals and appreciated his good humor. He will be missed.
With sympathy,
Bob and Tinni Thompson
I have known John for my entire farming career working here at the elevator, he first started as my customer but quickly became my friend and a man that I enjoyed spending every fall with trading stories about our friends and family. Rest in Peace John. Our memories will keep me smiling!
Condolences to Gregg and the rest of the family.
So sorry to hear of your father's passing. I remember him from our little league baseball games.
Marilyn and Family,
We were so very saddened to learn of John's passing. We cannot think of a more kind, caring, and special man than John. He was definitely one-of-a-kind, and we know how much your family will miss him, as well as many others. Sending love to you all.
So sorry to hear of John's passing. I have very fond memories of playing football and being members of FFA, etc. with John. Wish I could be there for the service, but that is not possible. Will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Norm
Marilyn and family, so sorry to hear of John's passing. You (and Ruth) are in our prayers during this difficult time and know John is in God's presence.
So sad to hear of the loss of another of the farmer neighbors from my childhood. My sympathies to the family.
Johnny was the "first friend" that I can recall. Not too many people lived close to us and John (and Ruth) were the closest and bestest friends that a farm kid could have asked for. Through High School always admired Johnny in football. Over the years have seen him at various reunions and visits back to Carlinville. I have lost a long time friend. Our condolences especially to Marilyn, Ruth and the rest of the family/

Cannot remember a time he didn't greet us with his wonderful smile. May God help you find comfort, and we hope you speak of him often with tender and joyful memories.

Sorry to hear of John's death. You were our neighbors when we lived in Illinois fifty two years ago. He was always so friendly and happy. John stopped by our place here in Michigan to visit while he was traveling to Detroit. You are in our thoughts and prayers in this most difficult time.

Having grown up in Carlinville Methodist Church myself, I remember John quite clearly as a faithful member. I also remember that my Dad, Milton Wadsworth thought very highly of John as well! My sincerest sympathy to Marilyn and the family, as I lift them all to God in prayer in the days ahead! I only wish I were close enough to attend John's visitation and funeral in person.
So sorry to hear of John's death. Jennifer and I offer our sympathy to the family and prayers for you during this difficult time.
