Obituary of Murile Johnston

Murile Franklin Johnston, 81, of Litchfield, IL, formerly of Carlinville, IL, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at his residence in Litchfield, IL.

Murile was born on July 5, 1936 to Everett and Leota (Nance) Burch in Carlinville, IL. On June 11, 1999 he married Margaret "Peg" Dawson in Carlinville, IL.

Murile hauled coal to schools and homes in the Macoupin area for Straub Brothers for 23 years, then worked in the maintenance department at Aladdin Steel for 14 years before retiring. He loved working on model cars, woodworking, and fixing up automobiles.

Murile is survived by three daughters; Rose (Thomas) Weiss of Litchfield, IL, Cheryl ("Chip" Anna) Epps of Litchfield, IL, and Dianna (Brian) Howard of Litchfield, IL; son, Jeff (Companion, Sarah Vargo) Johnston of Virden, IL; two sisters, Juanita Springman of Carlinville, IL, and Janet Davis of Carlinville, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Murile was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, parents, several brothers, and a sister.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 10:00 am at the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Carlinville, with Rev. Cliff Woodman, officiating.
