I got to spend a lot of time with Verna the last 3 yrs of my mom's life as I visited my mom most weekends. My mom moved back to Carlinville after my dad died & they picked up right where they left off. They went out to eat just about every evening, they spent time together, and talked on the phone. So when I was in town I tagged along a lot. I got to hear current stories & past stories about both of their lives & families.
There was always something to talk or laugh about. They were great friends. Not only the good times , but Verna was always there when mom was in & out of the hospital & nursing home. Those times were precious. After Mom passed away I made a couple of visits to Verna & exchanged xmas cards with an update included. Mom loved Verna & I & my siblings did too. I felt sorry that Mom died & would not be there for Verna. I would have liked to have come to Verna's funeral & seen every one but unfortunately I was out of state and did not get home until the evening of her funeral. Verna will always be special to our family. She will always be remembered. Peggy Mitchell Wade
