Obituary of Myrtle Marie Kessinger

Myrtle Marie Kessinger, 88, of Carlinville, IL passed away Monday morning, May 15, 2017, at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL.
Myrtle graduated from Carlinville High School with the class of 1947. She married Wayne Earl "Keek" Kessinger Sr. on April 17, 1948 in Carlinville, IL; he passed away on May 28, 1995.
Myrtle retired in 1983 after over 30 years of employment with the Macoupin County Highway Department as a Clerk. She was a lifelong member of Blooming Grove Christian Church in rural Palmyra and was a Past President of the Ladies VFW Aux. Myrtle and her husband owned and operated Keek and Myrt's Tavern in Standard City, Il for several years. She loved to read, embroider and crochet. Known also as "Myrtie," "Mom," "Grammy," and "Great-Grams," she was very much loved by her family, friends and community.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Richard Bivin.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL.
Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Scott Bayles officiating.
Burial will follow in Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville.
Myrtle is survived by her son, Wayne (Terry) Kessinger, Jr. of Carbondale, IL, granddaughter, Alanna (Jeremy) Oster of Bloomington, IL, grandson, Adam (Chareassa) Kessinger of West Columbia, SC., great grandsons: Elias and Josiah Oster and Ethan Kessinger.
sisters, Allie Jo (Mike) Meikamp of Edwardsville, IL and Margie Hickerson of Pekin, Il, 14 nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Blooming Grove Christian Church.
