Thomas Jerome Drew, 91, of Carlinville, passed away Saturday morning, February 25, 2017 at his residence.
Tom was born on February 25, 1926 to Patrick and Mary (Kelly) Drew in Carlinville, IL. He graduated from Carlinville High School
with the class of 1944. Tom served in the United States Navy as a Gunners Mate Third Class during World War II. He married
Marjorie Huyear on April 23,1949 in Carlinville and she survives. They were blessed with 67 years of marriage.
Tom was a Lieutenant in the Illinois State Police, retiring in 1978. Following retirement from the Illinois State Police, Tom worked for
Koster Construction, Macoupin County Housing Authority, and farmed. He was a 65 year member of the Guy Baird American Legion
Post #544 in Carlinville, as well as a member of Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville and the Knights of Columbus
#663. Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and outdoor activities.
Tom is survived by his wife Marjorie Drew of Carlinville; three daughters, Marjorie (Jude) Glow of Oak Run, IL, Nancy (Robert)
Colantino of Springfield, IL and Colleen (James) Lutz of Springfield, IL; two sons, Curt Drew of Springfield, IL and Patrick (Kristi)
Drew of Carlinville, IL; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Charlotte Drew of Batavia, IL and Virginia Drew of
Quincy, IL, as well as a large extended family.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Yowell and three brothers, Henry, Robert and John Drew.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville, IL, with a prayer service at 3:45 pm.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 9:30 am at the church with Father Michael Haag and Father Kevin Thomas
Drew officiating.
Burial will take place in New Calvary Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Guy Baird American Legion Post #544.
Memorials are suggested to Ss Mary and Joseph Catholic Church.
