Obituary of Donald E. Fuchs

Donald E. Fuchs, 84, of Girard, passed away Tuesday evening, July 26, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Don was born on November 28, 1931 to Louis and Fannie (Lubben) Fuchs in Girard, IL. He graduated from Girard High School in 1949 where he excelled on the Girard men's basketball team. Don married Barbara J. Hart on January 4, 1958 at Zion Lutheran Church in Farmersville. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he was stationed at the Panama Canal. Don was Honorably Discharged on January 31, 1962. Don was a lifelong farmer in the Girard area, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard and enjoyed Cardinals baseball, basketball, spending time with his grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events. Don is survived by his daughter, Laura (Curt) Davis of Rochester, IL; son, Louis Patrick (Theresa) Fuchs of Glenarm, IL; daughter, Dawn (Thomas) Steiner of Lincoln, IL; 7 grandchildren, Alexandra and Cameron Davis, Nicholas and Craig Fuchs, Benjamin, Madeline and Claire Steiner; sister, Bernice Bostic of Shelton, WA, as well as several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Fuchs on September 21, 2014 and two sisters, Lucille Boros and Betty Cacciatori. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard, IL with Rev. Chris Prumm officiating. Burial will follow in Rovey Cemetery.
