Obituary of June Lake

June Yvonne Lake, 80, of Girard, passed away Friday evening, July 15, 2016 at Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, IL. June was born on March 19, 1936, the oldest of three daughters, to Jerald and Lucille (Sargent) Reed at their home in Virden, IL. On September 5, 1953 she married Frank "Bill" Lake at the Virden Christian Church. June held many jobs throughout her lifetime while being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a seamstress at the sewing factory in Virden, cooked at the Fiesta restaurant in Virden, operated Lake's Feed Store along side her husband, Bill, and was a caretaker for Home Health Care. She enjoyed Wednesday night ladies bowling league, loved fishing, the St. Louis Cardinals, and playing scratch-off lottery tickets. June had a special buddy, "Snowball", her long-haired Chihuahua. June is survived by her two daughters, Billie J. Lake of Shipman, IL and Sue Lake of Benton, IL; three sons, Jerry L. (Beth A.) Lake of Girard, IL, William (fiancée, Jenny Hunt) Lake of Girard, IL, and Mark W. (Melissa A.) Lake of Nilwood, IL; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lou Ann Strukely of Virden, IL and Ronda (Charles) Kuzicky of Granite City, IL; several nieces and nephews. June was preceded in death by her parents, Jerald and Lucille Reed, husband, Frank "Bill" Lake, son, Frank Lake, Jr., and daughter, Peggy Ann Summers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Gerald McElroy officiating. Burial will take place in the Virden Cemetery.
