Albert "Al" L. Rogers Jr., 85, of Girard, passed away Saturday morning, March 19, 2016 at his residence in Girard, IL.
Al was born on October 5, 1930 to Albert L. Sr. and Myrtle (Rager) Rogers in Buffalo, IL and he married Bonnie L. Bozarth on June 6, 1964 in Springfield, IL. They shared 51 years of marriage.
Al started his career as a truck driver for LandL Heating and Air Conditioning where he later became Vice President of the company. After leaving LandL, he started his own business, PandR and later became the superintendent for Punzak Heating and Air in Springfield until he retired. Both of Al's son's have followed in his footsteps as fabricators. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Al enjoyed golfing, bowling and working in his yard at Sunset Lake, where he lived for 25 years.
Al is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Girard, IL; two sons, Robert (Becky) Robbins of Springfield, IL and Jay (Diane) Rogers of Girard, IL; daughter, Barb (Mick) Humer of Normal, IL; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Grubb and Margaret "Peg" Smith both of Springfield, IL; 1/2 brother, Larry Rogers of Nashville; 1/2 sister, Pam Satore of Nashville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Speed and 3 sisters, Alberta, Annabelle and Mary.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Shawn Burgess officiating.
Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Girard Fire and Rescue Squad.
