Virginia L. "Ginny" Kiel, 81, of Taylorville, passed away Wednesday morning, January 6, 2016 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL.
Ginny was born on January 10, 1934 to Ralph D. and Lillian (Huff) Kelley in Shobonier, IL. She graduated from Effingham High School. Ginny married Richard M. Kiel on September 11, 1954 in Altamont, IL.
Ginny worked for the Taylorville Hospital, as well as Dr. Richard Brown as a receptionist in Taylorville, until retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond, IL and enjoyed gardening, flowers, sewing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ginny is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard M. Kiel of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Debbie (Mark) Mayer of Bethalto, IL; son, Michael (Karla) Kiel of Bluford, IL; daughter, Lisa (Rod) Chevalier of Carlinville, IL; son, Robert (Betty) Kiel of Bluford, IL; daughter, Terri (Darrell) Hayes of Taylorville, IL; son, Richard Kiel of Greenfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Bernice Cheney of Shelbina, MO; sister, Shirley (Gene) Davenport of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Joyce (Jim) Coleman of TN and a brother, Tom Kelley of St. Elmo, IL.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Brendan Chevalier; sister, Betty Jones and two brothers, Ralph E. Kelley, Jr. and Bill Kelley.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 10:30 am to Noon at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Raymond, IL with Rev. Dave Ziegenbein officiating.
Funeral services follow at Noon on Saturday at the Church with Rev. Dave Ziegenbein officiating.
Burial will take place in Rural Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
