Hazel D. Waters of Carlinville, went home to be with the Lord Sunday morning, August 30, 2015 at her daughter's home in Godfrey, IL. She was born on July 16, 1924 to Murriel H. and Goldia (Wells) Wilson in Scott County, near Alsey, IL. Hazel and Orville Waters met and lived in the Nortonville area and were married on August 14, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 26, 1993. Hazel is survived by her daughter, Shirley Lee (Raymond) Motley of Godfrey, IL; 2 sons, Pastor Orville Dean (Jane) Waters of Iberia, MO and Phillip Eugene (Vesta) Waters of Cleveland, TN; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Tunnie Montgomery of Sevierville, TN and Norma Snetsinger of Arivaca, AZ; 1 brother, James Wilson of Commerce, GA; special friend, Jean Rumble of Carlinville, as well as several nieces and nephews. Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Denver Wilson. Hazel worked and helped operate their farm up to the time of retirement with her husband, Orville. She was very active in her church until her health would not allow her to continue. Hazel taught Sunday School, was a member of the Women's Prayer Group and loved making quilts with the ladies ministry, Hands for Jesus. Hazel loved serving her lord and loved her family deeply. She enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with her family and is looking forward to Thanksgiving Dinner in Heaven with them someday. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor David Brown officiating and Pastor Dean Waters providing the eulogy. Special music will be provided by Pastor David Brown. Burial will follow in Youngblood Cemetery in Nortonville, IL. Memorials are suggested to the Hands for Jesus Quilting Club, C/O the Cross Church in Carlinville or BJC Hospice in St. Louis, MO.
