85 of Carlinville, passed away Sunday evening, June 8, 2014 in Carlinville, IL.
Nelson was born on November 24, 1928 to Everett N. and Mildred H.(Miller) in Carlinville. He was a 1946 graduate of Chesterfield High School. Nelson married Kathryn Borman on March 12, 1950 in Carrollton and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2011.
Nelson was a lifelong farmer in the Chesterfield area. He was very active with the Chesterfield Community Club. Nelson was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Knights Templor and was Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Mason in Illinois, March of 1973. He was the Knight of the Red Cross of Constantine, receiving the award on April 17, 1971, as well as the Knight York Grand Cross of Honor in April 1973. He was also a member of the Carlinville Elks Lodge #1412, Carlinville Moose Club and M&M Shriners.
Nelson is survived by two daughters, Linda (Ron) Schaefer and Brenda (companion, Dennis Armour) Tipps-Swires both of Carlinville; son, Art (companion, Lynn Ainsworth) Adams of Chesterfield; 11 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Mary Boente of O'Fallon, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Virginia Massey and a brother, Jerry Adams. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville with Masonic Rites being performed at 7:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home in Carlinville with Rev. Kevin Strope officiating.
Burial will follow in Chesterfield Cemetery. Donations Information
