Obituary of Velma Lorene Wiese

Velma Lorene Wiese 93, of Carlinville, passed away Monday morning, June 3, 2013 at her daughters residence in Carlinville. Velma was born on September 24, 1919 to Thomas and Opal (Conlee) Weller in Nilwood, IL. On January 22, 1946 Velma married Arthur Wiese in Carlinville and he preceded her in death on March 18, 1997. Velma was a farm wife and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville and active in the Women's Evening Guild. Velma loved her church and spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking angel food cake. Velma is survived by her son, Dean A. Wiese (Gloria) of Carlinville; 2 daughters, Marie Conklin (Fred) of Camdenton, MO and Norma Mitchell (Brian) of Carlinville; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 3 nieces as well as a sister-in-law; Marcella Weller. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a brother; Estel Weller, a sister; Verda Downing , and an infant sister; Vesta Fay Weller. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Carlinville with Rev. Kevin Strope, officiating. Burial will follow at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery, Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's United Church of Christ or VNA-Tip Hospice.
