Obituary of Robert Welte

Robert "Bob" Welte 77, of Carlinville, passed away Friday afternoon, August 3, 2012 at Carlinville Rehab Center in Carlinville. Bob was born on December 9, 1934 in Carlinville, the son of Frank and Eleanor (Rathke) Welte. Bob graduated from Carlinville High School, class of 1952. He then served in the United States Army after graduation. Bob married Joan M Loges on August 22, 1955 in Carlinville and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2008. Bob was a supervisor at Laclede Steel Company in Alton for 25 years. He was also a member of the Guy Baird American Legion post 554 and the VFW John L. Meyer Post 1104 in Carlinville. Bob was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to watch baseball. Bob is survived by his son, David Welte (Danita) of Carlinville; daughter, Debra A. Costello (Patrick "Ernie") of Carlinville; 5 Grandchildren - Michele Barbre (Carroll "Scooby"), Elizabeth Burrow (Michael), Nicholas Welte (Stephanie), Benjamin Costello, and Ian Costello; 6 Great-Grandchildren, Gabriel Barbre, Asher Barbre, Emily Barbre, Allison Burrow, Samuel Burrow, Kayla Welte and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. Peter Kirby, officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
