Loudene Walker
85, of Girard, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at her home on Sunset Lake, Girard, Illinois.
She was born June 29, 1926 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of Bruce and Effie (Dooley) Foster. She married Ward "Jim" Walker, Jr. on October 16, 1943 in St. Louis, MO.
Mrs. Walker worked at Ida's Home Café in Kincaid; she was a nurse's aide at St. Vincent's Memorial Hospital in Taylorville for 24 years. She was a Mary Kay director for over 20 years. While living in Bulpitt, she attended the Kincaid Church of God where she taught the teenage class and sang in the church choir.
After retiring to Sunset Lake in 1977, Loudene was a member of the Girard Women's Club and an active leader in the First Christian Church of Girard. She was affectionately called "the church lady" where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 20 years. She worked making peanut brittle, started the Christmas cookie walk and was the co-chair for the smorgasbord supper. She loved to sing in the church choir.
Survivors are her children: Jimmie (Margo) Walker of Lavina, MT; Phillip (Leya) Walker of Austin, TX; Penny (Jim) Edwards of Blue Mound, IL; and Joseph (Donna) Walker of Nilwood, IL. Three grandchildren: Jessica Davis of Taylorville, IL; Josh Langley of Girard, IL; Kelly Langley of Alton, IL. Three great grandchildren: Cody Walker, and Bethany and Aiden Ward Davis. Also surviving is her sister Wanda (Harry) Frier of Harrisburg, IL and she enjoyed several nieces and nephews especially Jo Ann Brown of Springfield, IL.
Loudene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ward Walker, Jr. two sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 4-6 pm at the First Christian Church in Girard.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, October 17, at 10:00 AM at the First Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service with Rev. Rich McElfresh and Rev. Sammie Barger officiating.
Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery Donations Information
