Myron Thompson 92, of Carlinville, passed away Thursday morning, March 15, 2012 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Myron was born on May 22, 1919 to Parker and Emma (Lindner) Thompson in Carlinville and was a life long resident of Polk Township. Myron married Lois (Yahr) Grichnik on October 4, 1986 at the Carlinville United Methodist Church. Lois preceded him in death on April 29, 2008. Myron served in the Army Air Force during WWII and was a farmer in Polk Township. He was also employed by the State of Illinois at the drivers license facility and the highway department. Myron was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville, Carlinville VFW and the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. He also enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. Myron is survived by 2 daughters, Sheron Murray (Donald) of Centralia, IL and Janet Griffel (Richard) of Carlinville; 2 granddaughters, Dena Roller (Jr.) and Toni Stewart (Mark); grandson, Lonnie Gwillim; 4 great grandchildren; 1 foster grandchild and 3 foster great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Grichnik Thompson; parents, parents, twin brother, Melvin Thompson; brothers, Arthur & Leonard Thompson and a sister, Lorena Thompson. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Carlinville with Rev. Peter Kirby officiating. Burial will take place in the Loomis Cemetery, rural Chesterfield with military rites provided by the Guy Baird American Legion Post #554. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the American Legion or the Macoupin Center for the Developmentally Disabled.
