Marion E. "Bud" Talkington
82, of Girard passed away Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Bud was born April 6, 1930, in Virginia, IL, a son of Roy and Vivian (Harbough) Talkington.
Bud married Marilyn (Farmer) November 24, 1956, in Joliet, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson and seven brothers and sister.
Bud served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Navy.
Bud worked as a Welder-Mechanic for the Schien Body & Equipment in Carlinville for 23 years and retired in 1992. He was a member of the New Life Family Church in Auburn and the Virden VFW.
He enjoyed a good game of golf and the thrill of watching the Chicago White Sox baseball team. At church he served as an usher, children's minister and used clowning as a way of teaching God's word to children.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn, son, Michael (Shelly) Talkington of Girard, daughter, Donna (Anthony) McDaniel of Jacksonville, grandson, Christopher Gunn, granddaughters, Melessia Miller and Erica McDaniel, four great grandchildren, sister, Hazel Byers of Irving, TX, brother, Robert Talkington of Girard and several nieces and nephews Funeral Information
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 from 8:00 to 10:00am at the New Life Family Church in Auburn where funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Larry Griffith officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Girard. Donations Information
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Girard Fire & Rescue Squad.
