Quentin L. Strope
of Carlinville, formerly of Pekin and Sarasota,FL, died Wednesday evening, June 10, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
He was born Monday, October 15, 1928 in Pekin,IL, the Son of the late Rudolph Quentin and Clare (Vogelsang) Strope. He married Gerda (Steckmann) in Pekin, IL on February 3, 1952.
Quentin retired in 1985 as the manager of a Saving and Loan in Sarasota, Florida. He had also managed Saving and Loans in Decatur and Pekin. Quentin had taught classes in management and operations of savings and loans. He served our armed forces during the Korean Conflict in the Army.
Quentin was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ as well as Pekin Elk's Lodge, Pekin Masonic Lodge #25, Shriners, Knights Templer, Decatur and Pekin Kiwanis Club and was past president. He was honored with the "Man of the Year" award in Pekin at the age of 27. Quentin served as Assistant Scout Master and loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and follow the University of Illinois sports teams.
Survivors: Wife, Gerda of Carlinville, IL, Son, Rev. Kevin Strope (Shellie) of Carlinville, IL, Daughter, Joanna Kelley (Michael) of Atlanta, GA, Grandchildren, Adam, Natalie, and Jonathan Strope, Sister, Doris Riegel (Bill) of Crystal Lake, IL, Brother, Gary Strope (Sue) of Lewistown, IL, Several Nieces & Nephews.
He was preceded in death by Brother, Ralph Strope. Funeral Information
Memorial Service will be held, 5:00P.M., Sunday, June 14, 2009 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. Donations Information
