Obituary of Loretta Katheryn Stewart

Loretta Katheryn Stewart 84 years old of Carlinville, IL, died Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Carlinville Area Hospital. She was born Thursday, August 5, 1926 in Tovey, IL, daughter of John and Velma (Blankenship) Perardi. Loretta married James P. Stewart on March 15, 1947 in Kincaid, IL. Lotetta graduated from South Fork Community High School in Kincaid. Shortly after graduating from high school Loretta began working at the munitions plant in Illiopolis. Loretta was a homemaker after her marriage. In October 1952 Loretta and Jim packed up their belongings and with their family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico where Jim worked in the potash mines. They lived in Carlsbad until 1971 at which time they moved to Carlinville. Loretta had many fond memories of her life in Carlsbad and she loved the desert southwest. She was a member of Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary and Women of the Moose in Carlsbad, NM. Surviving are 3 daughters, Dana Mason of Wyoming, Carol Pieper of Arizonia, Kim Striplin of Carlinville, IL; 10 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren, 2 sisters, June Takacs of Dewey, IL and Betty Gasper of Taylorville, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Stewart, daughter Katheryn Brown, son-in-law Johnny Brown, great granddaughter Alyssa Mason, sister Shirley Perardi and brother John Perardi Jr. Funeral Information A private graveside service will be conducted at New Calvary, Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with Decon Thom Lucia officiating Directions Cemetery: New Calvary Catholic Cemetery
