Obituary of Avis E. Smith

Avis Eloise Smith 79, of Carlinville, formerly of Chesterfied, passed away Monday, November 29, 2010 at Carlinville Area Hospital. Avis was born Wednesday, April 29, 1931 in Enos, IL, the daughter of Fred H.and Ruth B. (Jackson) Smith. Avis graduated from Carlinville High School, class of 1948. Avis worked as a cashier for over 51 years and retired from the Chesterfield State Bank in 2003. She loved her cats and enjoyed traveling and gardening. She was a member of Rockbridge Methodist Church as well as the Chesterfield Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her cats, Heidi and Holly. She was preceded in death by parents, brother Fred Smith Jr. Funeral Information Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 2 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Chesterfield. Funeral services will be held after the visitation at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home with Larry Young officiating. She will be buried next to her mother in Chesterfield Cemetery, Chesterfield, IL. Donations Information Memorials may be made to the Adopt A Pet in Benld, IL.
