Dwight Slightom
88, of Raymond, passed away Thursday morning, July 19, 2012 at his residence in Raymond, IL.
Dwight was born on August 20, 1923 to Miles and Esther (Whitfield) Slightom in Dorchester, IL. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Dwight then married Lavern Forbes on April 1, 1950 in Litchfield, IL. Dwight and Lavern were married for 62 years.
Dwight was a farmer for his entire lifetime, as well as a dairy farmer for 30 years. He was a member of the Macoupin County Farm Bureau and loved gardening and tinkering in his shop. Dwight was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Dwight is survived by his wife Lavern; 2 sons, David Slightom (Jeannie) of Carlinville and Dennis Slightom (Mary) of Litchfield; daughter, Dawn Cottingham (Terry) of Plainview; 6 grandsons, Shawn McFarland, Josh Slightom, David Slightom Jr., Matthew Slightom, Luke Cottingham, Tommy Cottingham; 2 granddaughters, Shelly Alepra and Jaime Hammann; brother, Tom Slightom of Carlinville; sister, Carol Ann Boehme (Leland) of Taylorville, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Bouillon and 4 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, IL.
