97, of Wood River, formerly of Chesterfield, IL passed away Friday morning, June 14, 2013 at VIP Manor in Wood River, IL.
Alma was born on December 26, 1915 to George and Mary E. (Rose) Newby in Gillespie, IL. Alma married John Sheridan and he preceded her in death on November 5, 1970.
Alma was a homemaker and worked 17 years in the housekeeping department for a local furniture store in Wood River.
Alma is survived by her son, Francis L. Sheridan of Wood River, IL; 2 daughters, Alice J. Vance of Mesquite, TX and Frieda A. (Donald) Drake of Ocala, FL; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Marie Ford of TX, Ellen Gardner of TX and Velma Kosiba of FL, as well as a brother, Harold (Shirley) Newby of Carlinville, IL.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, John Sheridan; parents, George O. and Mary E. Newby-Killiam; son, John F. Sheridan and brothers, Earl, Roy and Everett Newby. Funeral Information
Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, IL.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis A. Drake officiating.
Burial will take place in the Shipman Cemetery. Donations Information
