Mary Ellen Schmedeke, 82, of Carlinville, died Monday morning, September 14, 2009 at Carlinville Area Hospital.


She was born Friday, September 24, 1926 in El Dorado, OK, the Daughter of the late James and Mary (Haburen) Vollentine. She married Louie Schmedeke in Hillsboro, IL on October 29, 1943 and he died June 10, 2008.


Mary retired as a Nurse's Aid for the Macoupin County Nursing Home after several years employment.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church as well as the American Legion Aux. She enjoyed ceramics, flower gardening and loved to spend time with her family and dog.


Survivors: Daughter, Donna Schmedeke of Carlinville, IL, Son, Loren Schmedeke (Shirley) of Carlinville, IL, Son, Audy Schmedeke (Mary) of Carlinville, IL, Son, Terry Schmedeke (Bonnie) of Carlinville, IL, Five Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren, Sister, Fran Ahrends (Merlin) of Princeton, IL, Several Nieces & Nephews.

She was preceded in death by Five Brothers and Five Sisters Funeral Information



Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 17 at the church.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Carlinville.

She will be laid to rest in Bethel Ridge Cemetery rural Atwater Donations Information
