Obituary of Stella Jean Sawyer

Stella J. Smith 86, of Gillespie, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Heritage Manor in Gillespie. She was born Wednesday, August 29, 1923 in Henderson, IL, the Daughter of Dominic and Rose (Angelo) Turco. She married Karl Guna and he passed away Feburary 1951. She later married Daniel J. Sawyer Oct. 30, 1954 in Staunton. He passed away October 18, 1984. Stella was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Virginia Crane and Rosalie Link. Stella was a homemaker, loved gardening and takeing care of her lawn. Survivors: Companion, Edmond Simpson of Gillespie, IL, Son, Ronald L. Guna (Friend Ella Kuhar) of Carlinville, IL, Daughter, Denise Marcacci (James) of Gillespie, IL, Daughter, Karen R. Smith (Larry) of Carlinville, IL, 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren. Funeral Information Visitation was held from 10:00-11:00 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Carlinville, Saturday, December 19, 2009. Funeral services were held after visiatation at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Entombment was in Sunset Hill Mausoleum in Edwardsville, IL. Pallbearers were Dan Katich, Ron Guna Sawyer, Larry A. Smith, Harold "Butch" Smith, Mark Sawyer, and David Schwartz.
