Obituary of Richard Parke Sandage

Rick P. Sandage 68, of Girard passed away Wednesday morning, November 6, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Rick was born September 4, 1945, in Alliance, OH, a son of Louis H. and Marion Lucille (Propst) Sandage. He was preceded in death by his parents. Rick was married to Jody Rich on June 11, 1977, in Virden, IL and they were married for 36 years. Rick graduated from Roosevelt High School in Kent, Ohio before moving to the Girard area. Rick and his father were owners of Acme Motor Supply in Girard for 20 years. He also worked as a bookkeeper for Fitzgerald Elevator Repair in Girard and Cardinal Siding in Springfield. He later worked at the Macoupin County Supervisor of Assessments Office and served as the township assessor for Girard Township. Rick was the treasurer for the City of Girard for several years and enjoyed the years he served. Rick loved to fish and spend time with family and extended family. He was also active in political campaigning and enjoyed supporting his candidate. He was a member of the Grace Southern Baptist Church in Virden and past member of the Girard Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Jody Sandage of Girard; son, Richard Parke (significant other Amy Kimball) Sandage II of Girard; daughter, Bethany Nicole (significant other Tom Crowe) Sandage of Chatham; brother, Louis Henry Sandage Jr. of Auburn; sister, Suzan Lynn (Joe) Chambers of Auburn and a niece and nephew. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Monday,November 11, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
