Obituary of Stephen Michael Rutan

Stephen M. Rutan 29, of Girard, formerly of Mesa, Arizona, died Monday, December 6, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born Saturday, August 8, 1981 in Danville, Illinois, the oldest son of Steven M. and Sharon J. (Stierwalt) Rutan. Stephen graduated from Danville High School in 1999, and then, in December of 2000, he graduated from Hi-Tech Institute in Phoenix, Arizona with a degree in drafting. He was a Certified Draftsman. He married Dawn Marie in Allerton Park in Monticello, Illinois on May 4, 2002. Stephen was employed with EMC2 in Mesa, Arizona for five years after his graduation from Hi-Tech Institute. Because of an employment opportunity could bring him back to Illinois, he and Dawn decided to move to Girard after falling in love with the home they occupy now. Stephen immediately became a part of the community, and was very active. He was the president of the Girard Lion's Club, Co leader of Clover Cadettes 4-H Club, a member of Girard Chamber of Commerce, where he was on the building committee for the new Girard Community Center. He was instrumental in Girard receiving The Best Little Town award. He also participated in the Girard Holiday Shop. Stephen was known as "The Tupperware Guy" in the Girard area. Survivors: Wife, Dawn Marie Rutan of Girard, Illinois, Five year old Daughter, Tristan Maree Rutan, Father, Steven Rutan (Rhonda) of Danville, Illinois, Mother, Sharon Rutan of Danville, Illinois, Brother, Vern Michael Rutan (Rebecca) of Norco, California, Maternal Grandparents, Bob & Dee Stierwalt of Sadorus, Illinois, Several Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents. Funeral Information Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 10 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard. Services: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home. Rev. Daren Zenhle will officiate.
