Obituary of Frederick Peter Ropell

Frederick Peter Ropell 74, of Carlinville, formerly of Littleton Colorado, passed away Friday morning, December 31, 2010 at Heritage Manor in Carlinville. He was born Friday, March 13, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Anthony and Catherine (Reynolds) Ropell. He married Elizabeth Bramwell in St. Patrick's Cathedral New York, NY on September 12, 1964. Fred served from 1963 to 1967 in the Army in the Special Forces Division as a Green Beret. Fred previously worked for Johns-Mansville Corp for 30 years in New York and Colorado before accepting a position with Karmak in Carlinville. Fred was the Director of Marketing for 10 years and was instrumental in designing the Karmak logo. Fred enjoyed photography, art, cooking and traveled internationally Survivors: wife, Elizabeth Ropell of Carlinville, sons, Randy Ropell of Arvada, CO, Jeff Ropell (Carol) of Lawrenceville, GA, Scott Ropell (Karen) of Jefferson City, MO, and Bradley Ropell of Arvada, CO, 2 Grandchildren, brother, Robert Ropell (Marjorie) of Centereach, NY, sister, Kathy Douglas (Jim) of Dunedin, FL.
