Edith Rathgeb age 95 of Carlinville passed away Thursday morning, March 21, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Edith was born October 1O, 1917, in Beltrees, IL, a daughter of John and Mary (Wendle) Bechtold. Edith married Kenneth H. Rathgeb, January 20, 1940, in Beltrees, IL and he passed away November 21, 1992. Edith was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Eleanor Smith and Helen Bechtold and brothers Leo Bechtold and Ed Bechtold. Edith was a homemaker and was famous for her lemon pies. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and working the KC fish fry's. She was a devoted mother and church member at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are her son, Dave (Deb) Rathgeb of Carlinville, daughter, Diana (Charles) Carson of Granite City, IL, grandchildren Tessa Hacke & Brianna (Dewey) Alexander, great grandchildren Roman Holt & Rio Alexander, brother, John "Bud" (Elaine) Bechtold of Saugerties, NY, brother, Laverne (Sharon) Bechtold of Alton, IL, sister, Catherine Estrada of Glendora CA, sister, Marie (Laverne) Bergenzer of Atlanta GA, several nieces and nephews, special friend LuAnn Leefers of Carlinville. Funeral Information Friends may call Friday, March 22, 2013 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church in Carlinville. Prayer service will be held at 3:45. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am, Saturday,March 23, 2013, at Ss Mary & Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will be in: New Calvary Cemetery, Carlinville. Donations Information Memorials may be made to Carlinville Area Hospital Building Fund or Relay for Life Cancer Fund.
