Obituary of Horton A. Rands

Horton A. Rands 87, of Palmyra, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Sunrise Manor in Virden, IL. He was born Monday, July 2, 1923 in Hettick, IL, the son of Lynn S. Rands and Marie (Horton) Rands. He married Helen (Horton) Rands in Palmyra, IL on August 18, 1946. Horton was a World War #2 veteran serving in the Navy. Horton was a machinist for Richardson Manufacturing in Spingfield for 35 years and retired in 1989. Horton was a member of the Hettick Methodist Church and Palmyra American Legion Post #1034. He enjoyed gardening, watching all sports and restoring John Deere tractors. Horton loved to watch his grandchildren participate in their school sporting events. Survivors: wife, Helen Rands of Palmyra, daughters, Becky Rands and Kris Reichert, husband (Ken) of Virden, IL, 4 grandchildren, sister, Tempest Brower of Cleveland, OH, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, three sisters, Loraine Weller, Faye Rands and Juanita Chism. Funeral Information Graveside service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, IL.
