Obituary of Verna Margret Pointer

Margret Pointer 87, of Chesterfield, passed away Monday evening, April 28, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. Margret was born on March 1, 1927 to Vernie and Mable (Miller) Pitman in Hettick, IL. She graduated from Wood River High School and later married James C. Pointer on November 15, 1946 in Carlinville and he preceded her in death on April 1, 1994. Margret was an LPN for Morse Nursing Home and later owned and operated Mrs. Pointer's Bakery at her home in Chesterfield. She was known by the local children as "grandma cookie". Margret also enjoyed gardening in her spare time. She is survived by a son, Keven (Pam) Pointer of Chesterfield; daughter, Lesa (Bill) Motika of Virden; 3 grandchildren, Heather Ranee (Jamie) Austif, Dawn Ranee Register and Joe Pointer; brother, Wayne Calhoon of Brighton, as well as several nieces and nephews. Margret was preceded in death by her husband, James Pointer; parents, Vernie and Mabel Calhoon; brothers, Earl and William Calhoon and two sisters, Mable Moore and Irene Clevenger. Funeral Information Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home Carlinville with funeral services following at 3:00 pm. Burial will follow in Loomis Cemetery. Donations Information Memorials are suggested to the Chesterfield Community Club.
