Rev. Clarence Elwood Barr, Sr. 96, of Carlinville, passed away on Sunday morning April 29, 2012 at Heritage Manor in Carlinville. He was born on September 23, 1915 to James Lonzo and Agusta Marie (Dennis) Barr in Steelville, Missouri. He married Ozaine Todd on November 24, 1934, and she preceded him in death on February 13, 1999. On October 1, 2000 he married Sarah (Huddlestun) Wadsworth at the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. Rev. Barr pastored in Grafton, Illinois, State Park, Illinois (Pioneered), West Helena, Arkansas, Benton, Arkansas, England, Arkansas, Benton, Illinois, Built Glenview Chapel in Granite City, Illinois, Cahokia, Illinois and Gillespie, Illinois. He served as an Associate under J. Albert Callaway at Tri City Assembly in Granite City Illinois, as a Pastor to the seniors. He also served as an evangelist for several years, retiring at age 90. He also was a regional manager over six states for Guide One Insurance Company for 22 years. After selling insurance, he sold and repaired Lawn Boy mowers in Highland, Illinois. Clarence loved to learn, and was always said to be a full-time student. But the love of his life was his family. Clarence is survived by his loving wife, Sarah, 3 sons - Robert Barr (Linda) of Granite City, IL, Raymond Barr (Carol) of Highland, IL, Clarence Barr Jr. (Suzanne) of Highland, IL; daughter - Barbara Johnson (Donald) of Carlinville, IL; step-son - Patrick Wadsworth Sr. (Donna) of Lafayette, LA; 2 step-daughters - Judi McLeese (Steve) of Palmyra, IL, Carla Eddington (George) of Shipman, IL; 11 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and step-great-great-grandchildren. Also surving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, 2 grandchildren, and four brothers, Walter, Lonnie, Bill, and Earl Barr. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 02, 2012 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the First Assembly of God Church in Carlinville. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Revs. Pat Wadsworth, Sr. and Gary Blanchard officiating. Burial will take place in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, Illinois.
