George Earl Newby

age 91, of Mena, Arkansas formerly of Carlinville, IL passed away Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his residence. Earl was born January 23, 1918 in Plainview, IL. He was the son of George Orval and Mary Esther Rose Newby.

Earl married Meta Caroline (Schwenke) in 1938 and she died 1984. Earl married Loretta Counts in 1987.

Earl was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for 40 years and retired in 1978.

Survived by, Wife Loretta, sons, Richard of Villa Ridge, MO and William of Lexington, IL, daughters, Jacqueline Hunter of Brighton, IL and Caroline Stults of Carlinville, IL, Step-son, Tony D. Counts of Portland, Oregon, 9 Grand and 9 Great Grandchildren, brother Harold Newby of Carlinville, IL, sisters Alma Sheridan of Wood River, IL, Ellen Gardner of Rowlett, TX, Marie Ford of Garland TX, Velma Kosiba of Rockledge, Florida, special grandchildren, Burt and Cherrie Nichols, Shae Nichols, Brian and Katie Nichols and Kaelyn Nichols. Also special grandchildren include the joy of his life, Suni Brooke Nichols. Funeral Information

Graveside services will be held Saturday, 11:00 A.M. February 14, 2009 at Prairie Lawn cemetery

Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday evening at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville.

Burial will be in Prairie Lawn Cemetery.
