Wanda Marion McCollom
age 89, formerly of Carlinville, died on September 23, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Wanda was born in Carlinville on July 27, 1924 to the parents Marion and Harriet (Jones) Chism. She grew up in Carlinville, graduating from Carlinville High School in 1942. She married Homer "Roe" L. McCollom of Hettick, Illinois on June 3, 1942. He preceded her in death in September of 1989.
Upon Roe's discharge from the U.S. Navy, he began his career in construction which took them to St. Louis, Missouri, Panama Canal, Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, Security, Colorado, Las Vegas, Nevada, Oceanside, California, Pueblo and Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1968 they returned to Las Vegas where they settled for the rest of their lives. Wanda embraced each move as a new adventure and fresh start.
Over the years they made many, many lifelong friends in each place they lived. These friends and families often traveled long distances to visit Wanda and Roe. Wanda was never happier than when she entertained them around her kitchen table.
